On 1928 in Sighet, Translyvania, Elie Wiesel was born. When he was 15 years old, the Nazis made them leave to go to Auschwitz. At that time, his two older sisters and dad lives, but his mother and his younger sister died. After a while, Elie and his father had to leave to another place called Buchenwald and his father died minutes or hours later. He started journalism after the war and started to write many stories. His stories mainly talked about the Holocaust and his life in it, like in his book, "Night." For all of his amazing and interesting books, he has won many awards.
Most of his books expressed how his life was during the Holocaust and how he felt about it. He survived through the tragedy but is still hurt by those who had killed his family and all of the other Jews. This was had a strong impact on his life because he got hurt and wanted to let out his pain so that we can all understand what life was like during that time. It was hard because there was a lot of killing, dying, and pain. Wiesel was motivated to help us understand what the Holocaust is and what horrible things had happened at the time. Another reason of why he wrote these books about the Holocaust is because he wanted to make a statement that the Holocaust is something really devastating, so he wrote about how everyone felt and what had happened to tell us that something like this should NEVER happen again. He wrote this so that we can feel the pain that the other Jews felt to make us see what Hitler has done wrong and to help us understand this time period of history. One part that had happened to him was that he had to go to a Nazi death camp. One interesting fact about him was that he prayed a lot with his mentor. He studied Torah, Talmud, and Kabbalah which showed that he was Religious and was most likely smart. Even though he survived, other people suffered.
He wrote many books about the Holocaust and his life in it. He won Nobel Prizes and awards for it. In the years 1972-1978, Elie was a became the "Professor of Judaic Studies at the City University of New York." In 1978, he became a "Professor of Humanities at Boston University." Then he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Achievement. In 1988, he made the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, to discover the problems of "ethnic conflicts." He won many awards.
